Yes, I know. "erase sectors", part of the CFA command set. To use
this, more changes to the wd@ata code are needed, eg use of
"write without erase" instead of just "write".

According to the CF spec (rev.2), the ATA version fields in
the ID data are irrelevant for CF-ATA mode.
