When I looked at the tcpdump you emailed me, I couldn't see anything
wrong with the reply (and wireshark had decoded it all fine + confirmed
that the checksums seemed ok), so I suspect the fragmentation reassembly
failed somehow. Dropping the rsize to 1024 would avoid any IP 
fragmentation, although it also chamges the readdir replies, so that
doesn't nail it down to fragmentation reassembly, but it seems the best
guess?
