SATA II and PCI-X vs PCI for Areca ARC-1110 RAID Adapter

Seems as if the "arcmsr driver provides support for
the PCI-X and PCI Express RAID controllers from Areca
Technology Corporation" in netbsd-4 now. Presumably
the SATA 3.0 Gbit/s standard is supported too.

So, I was wondering... has anyone tried it? And will
a PCI-X card really work in a PCI slot?

What are the consequences of using a PCI-X card in a PCI
slot?  Will 3.0 Gbit/s still be available?
