What might contribute is that my box is dual-core, and that
the radio transmitter is switched off which causes these
error messages in the first place.

It is not spinning, it hangs within a call to aprint_error_dev().
If I replace this by good old printf it gets further, up to the
next aprint probably which I didn't identify yet.
