I use union mounts on a near daily basis: my kernel and pkgsrc builds are
generally MFS over FFS, and my main /usr/src tree build is LFS over FFS.
So it is usable and the quirks aren't annoying me too much :-)  (this new
vim which keeps highlighting my parentheses is annoying me more).
