Dunno if that is really related, but I recently had someone complain about
low performance with some scsi disks[1], getting only about 8MB/s. After
he replaced the drives[1] he got 30MB/s. Software was g4u, which is
-current from a few months ago. Operation was direct copying w/o RAID.

Maybe disks are an issue here, too?
