Ok, I plugged in the second one and it doesn't work either.
The chip is different, the first one was a 0680, and what I now
plugged in is a 0680A.  Kernel message also looks somewhat
different:

CMD Technology product 0x0680 (miscellaneous mass storage, revision 0x02) at pci
2 dev 10 function 0 not configured
