I tried the patch on an SMP system. I could run phoenix without kernel
crashes, although going to news.bbc.co.uk, and picking one of the
headlines, often made it crash. That might be a libpthread issue.

When I started up xmms (without any arguments), and tried to ^C it,
the kernel did crash, though. I didn't have serial console on the
box at the time, so I do not have a traceback, but I can probably
easily reproduce the issue.
