I'll need to digest what you say, but I will certainly give it a
try.  Please discuss this with David Laight because he seems to be
heading in a different direction with the bootstrap loader, and it
seems a bit of a waste :-)

What I understood of what he said makes sense, so I'm not the one
to comment any further.
