Yep. But why do they do this? Because forkbombs cause the users,
and more importantly in this case the administrators, pain and
grief that needs to be punished to discourage it from happening
again.

Maybe this won't be necessary anymore.  Do you realise what you've
done!? You've destroyed years of tradition!

(Seriously, though, I'm sure it or something like it has been tried
before. Maybe it was rejected for good reasons - which might not
be as relevant in today's usage.  If this is the case, kre is very
likely to know. But don't subject him to the whole thread, please.)
