I just spoke with Ms. Rothwell.  She claimed that this was the first
time she ever tried sending email to addresses she got off of a search
engine, and was also unaware of the existance of mailing lists (she
was unaware that tech-kern@netbsd.org was a mailing list).

I informed her that her actions reflect poorly on her employer (and,
as I work for Sun, my employer.. ) and she promised to not do this
again..

[i'd be inclined to believe that this was an honest mistake.]
