Yes.  There are many different kinds of compatibility modes based on
the interface byte, but the only ones that it defines are 16x50.

There is one exception to this, and that is subtype 0x80, which means
it could be anything.  Many WinModems use this, as to many PCI real
modems and I've seen some network cards using this as well.
