And checksumming etc.
Some hardware has a multi slot perfect match address table.
Some hardware will require any additional MAC addresses to be matched via
promiscuous mode. Some hardware requires the same for doing multicast.
Some mechanism whereby hardware interface capabilities are communicated to
the interface it is attached to is needed.
