One other functional nit I've had is that all devices must be powered on
at probe time (boot). In many cases one might decide to power up the
tape drive later or that cdrom drive. It would be very nice to re-probe
when a device is powered on (or off). Another way might be to probe
at open.

Also were dk stats ever implemented for the scsi devices ?
