You will be happy to learn that you are mistaken.  5.0 will in fact ship
with the lii(4) driver.

$ uname -sr
NetBSD 5.0_BETA
$ man -k lii

$ cd /usr/src/sys/dev/pci
$ cvs status if_lii.c
