Hmm, yes, I think so.  I committed again.

We should probably add a pre-commit check to verify that the correct
server is in use.  A trivial script containg 'case "$(hostname)" ...'
and invoked very early from CVSROOT/commitinfo would do the trick.
I know FreeBSD does that.
