Some more information:
- - mount_ffs refused with 'operation not supported by device'.
- - fsck worked fine, didn't return any kind of error
- - on sparc64 sd1a worked, sd1g did not
- - on sparc sd01, sd0d and sd0e worked
- - on macppc wd0a worked, wd0d did not
- - all those filesytems are ffs, no disklabels were changed
