No, this change is wrong.
I think your system is out of date... you perhaps updated your base
system but not your X, or vise versa.
The pthread symbols are weak and properly resolve to nothing if the
application does not use pthreads. The use of threads in those
libraries is "defensive", in case the application uses them.
Please back this change out and fix the brokenness on your particular
system.
