    	Radeon Mobility chipsets are designed for low power laptop
    	use. The chances of finding one in anything but a laptop are
    	approximately zero.

my point is that this driver is already known to work on a large
number of powerpc laptops that use radeon mobility, and this hack
has not even been tested on any of them AFAICT.

but it sounds like emmanuel has a solution that's vaguely acceptable..
