Two points I think I should mention:

1) Commit log entries should contain a concise description of the change
   that was made; you've been reminded of this previously.  The above
   describes how the change took place without saying what was changed, nor
   which purpose for.  Referring to the gnats database isn't good enough a
   substitute.

2) This looks like a candidate for a vendor-branch import.
