Log Message:
Detect basic utilities dynamically, so that the bootstrap script works fine
under Linux (programs can be placed in different directories, depending on
the distribution). For other platforms, location of programs can be tuned
by hand easily, if wanted. For unknown platforms, this may also provide
better results.
