If I pipe this email to "ppt | ppt -d" I get the newlines exactly as
in the original.

I fixed the dflag issue, and then read your email, and figured out
the argv issue (first arg skipped).

| stack garbage as the initial value for dflag means that passing
| arguments to ppt makes it emit the usage.
