Log Message:
In soreceive(), if any part of a received record has been freed,
and an error occurs, make sure the socket doesn't retain a partial
copy by dropping the rest of the record.

This would otherwise trigger a panic("receive 1a") under DIAGNOSTIC.

Fixes PR#16990, suggested fix adapted.
