   Undo previous major bump - the ABI wasn't affected by the corresponding
   code change.


is this good form?  the major bump doesn't matter at the moment to anyone,
except now there might be people with the upped major number installed on
there system and they'll always be screwed until the major number is once
again raised.  not too much of a window, but does that matter?
