      Shouldn't this be a printcap option? If you have more than one
   printer you might want to LF-ify some but not others. For example,
   a PCL printer might get a bit upset.

erm, this is an option to the "lpf" program, a standalone filter supplied
with the lpr suite, not an option to lpd itself.  ie, one must setup a
filter in printcap using lpf to get at this functionality.
