I also don't see any documentation associated with this change or any updates
to the NetBSD ELF Faq, which has been suddenly rendered highly misleading.

There were several ways to do this, BTW. The global path approach is the
most obvious, and the least flexible. Some of us have considered this problem
for some time. I wrote this identical mod over a year ago and sent it in to
a core member, but we didn't use it -- for good reasons, I might add.
