Fellow geeks (I hope that's not presumptuous):

I'll be in Bangalore in a few days.  I would be willing to by a Simputer
for any interested party, provided I can find a seller.  It looks like
they might run about $500, but I'll let you know if I'm quoted a lower
price.  

The question of course is, are there any interested parties?  Any
interesting parties?
