} I can't say for sure if Xen domu's can use zvols as a backing storage,

     The back end driver expects a "physical disk".  If you use a
file as backing storage, then a script sets up a vnd(4) and passes
that to the backend driver.  If a zvol appears to the system as a
"physical disk" then it should work.  However, I have not tried it.
