Re: Utility of PV on non-obsolete hardware

Thanks for this, it's a useful reference.

I have data for many more x86 implementations which I can provide. I
collect data as I'm in the middle of a process of speeding things up.

Please see the first table at https://gmplib.org/devel/testsystems.html
to get an idea which systems run xen.

(The data is not useful for comparing different CPUs as I use SMT on any
CPUs which handle that. The data should be OK within a hardware system,
but not perfect as some tests (on FreeBSD as it happens) are run last,
and ultimately the system will be semi-loaded and thus run faster under
SMT.)

Yes, that is the plan - or at least to look at all options for a non-PV dom0.

While I (no longer) use NetBSD for Dom0, I'm very interested in the
performance effects of PVH for Dom0. My Gentoo Dom0s are dreadfully
slow, and I haven't dared play with Xen 4.12's "tech preview" support
for Dom0 PVH.

Do you think PVH for Dom0 will make a speed difference for DomU?
