Trouble starting X11 on Xen Dom0 amd64

I have a Xen Dom0 NetBSD 8.0_RC1 on amd64 with xen*4.8.

During boot the video mode is not seen changing.

After startx the screen remains blank with some garbled colors at the top.
Only way to get screen back is to hit the power button.

This is a laptop with "Intel HD Graphics"[1]

Is this something that can be worked around? I'll be happy to share more
information as needed.
