What kind of panic?  As far as normal kernel operations go, the only 
thing that the DDB does is make the text portion of the kernel read/write 
(which is a bug, actually; it should only enable writing of the kernel 
text on a per page basis for the purpose of setting breakpoints, setting 
it back once the breakpoint has been set...the sun3 port has dealt with 
this already).

So, it sounds a little like something might be trying to write to kernel 
text.  This could potentially be a stray pointer problem, or maybe 
something is trying to update the vector table?
