I never called it a problem and it doesn't seem to cause any
issues. I would call it a curiosity.

Why guess when the system tells you what each disk is?
I think Paul was thinking in the other direction. In simh, when given a
disk image of a certain size, provide a string that match a type of disk
that have that size.
