Re: pkgsrc on vax
Anybody tried?
pkgsrc works quite well on VAX, particularly when compared with just a few
years ago. We've got quite a collection:
https://cdn.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/vax/11.0_2025Q4/All/
went for pkgsrc, and pkgsrc/bootstrap/bootstrap worked,
and install in /usr looks OK.
You shouldn't need to bootstrap if you have a relatively modern version of
NetBSD.
I usually just run "make package update" in pkgtools/pkg_install.
cd: Can't cd to "/AD1/pkgsrc/shells/tcsh/work/tcsh-6.24.16": No such file or
directory
*** Error code 2
What's your LOCALBASE set to? What kind of filesystem is AD1? That should
Just Work(tm).
P.S. When doing this years before "make fetch-list | sh" downloaded all
needed files for a while, now nothing? Is something in the pkg-systyem
pointing into wrong directories?
That suggests that the distfiles are already downloaded.
