First of all, there were problems with booting the boot loader from 
current versions for a long time, but unless my memory fails me, this is 
not an issue anymore, and have not been for a few years.

Second, I don't know what the issue is with that stray interrupt. Maybe 
try a new bootloader? :-)

I can tell you that I'm running NetBSD on both real and simulated VAXen 
just fine. (Modulo other issues that have nothing to do with this.)
