I believe that I read somewhere that you need 8 MB to install it.  It is
possible to get it to run with 4 MB but you'd have to install it manually
and you'd have barely any free memory.

I put it on a 16 MB VAXStation 4000/60 and I have about 11.5 MB of free
memory after booting the kernel, so that would put you in the hole from the
beginning.
