   Check the stop bits and/or parity settings...the correct settings 
should be 8 data bits, no parity, and one stop bit.

   Interesting. ;)  You'll find using a terminal to be MUCH more 
reliable and predictable than using terminal emulation software on 
another computer, especially a PeeCee.
