I have a VaxStation 3100 which was happily running NetBSD up to
including 1.6.1.
Yesterday I upgraded to 1.6.2 by getting the tgz archives and taring
them (except for etc.tgz) into /.
Now when I boot with a 1.6.2 kernel, either the generic one or a custom
comiled one some apps core dump on
the spot. When I boot up with the old 1.6.1 kernel things work fine.

Here are my dmesg:

NetBSD 1.6.2 (NARA) #0: Mon Mar 8 22:25:22 CET 2004

In messages I find
Mar 8 22:37:26 nara savecore: /netbsd: _dumpdev not in namelist

the following core files I could provide if makes sense:
-rw------- 1 root wheel 184320 Mar 8 22:37 awk.core
-rw------- 1 root wheel 163840 Mar 8 22:41 getty.core

-rw------- 1 root wheel 327680 Mar 8 22:38 sshd.core

any suggestions what goes wrong or what to look for would be highly
appreciated.

Georg

PS: I would prefer if you could put im in Cc: of any related discussion
to the port-vax mailing list. Thanks.
PS2: do I have to update boot sectors? Could that be an issue?
