Since we're on the topic of release building.  Is there a way to get
recent versions of gcc to output a compiled binary in a.out format
instead of ELF?  If we can do this, it would be a possible workaround
for the existing problem of not being able to generate a mopable
bootloader from an ELF executable with our broken mopcopy util.
