I agree with this with some examples:
Forerunner ES-3810 (maybe other console ports of network equipment)
PowerMac 7200 in OpenFirmware (maybe all PowerMacs)
All RS/6000s i know
They all need the DCD signal, and since a while, i never make adapters without
wirind DCD also. Too much pain otherwise, the adapter works with some hardware,
abd with some different hardware, you are hunting the problem quite long, if
you forget that you didn't connect DCD.
