Various older NetBSD ports have working tape installation using the
trusty^Wcrusty shell-script install. See mvme68k, for an example.

I occasionally look at what would be required to make sysinst work with
tapes, but each time I conclude that it would be a real hack-n-slash job,
and so not really worth the effort.
