Hi Jochen,

There is one little problem; I never did any programming, I don't even =
know where to
start.
Are you willing to share your updated files with me?
In the meantime I shall send in a problem report on this matter.

Thanks,
Joop=20

But I know the problem and the solution to it. ;-)
The VAX4k100 / MV3100m9x does some things a bit different than
other VAXen of that type when it comes to booting. Unfortunately=20
I don't have enough knowledge about this internas to describe it
closer. Due to this difference this class of machine can boot NetBSD=20
only by one way: Netboot. Best is to load the kernel via net with
the option "-a" so that it asks for the root-fs to mount. You
can answer "sd0a" and the machine continues to boot from disk.=20
Or compile a custom kernel with the root-fs hardwired in it.=20

Hugh Graham from OpenBSD posted a mail about this some time ago:=20
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-vax/2002/06/28/0005.html
I applied the patches from that mail to my source (-current
of that time) and now my MV3100m95 can boot from its own SCSI
disk. (See: http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-vax/2002/07/01/0000.html)

It would be nice if you can test this patches and report if they
work. Maybe this patches will find there way into NetBSD when=20
some users report success with them.=20
