As far as I can tell, no.  In fact, my posted fix for 4.3BSD was
inspired by reading NetBSD code.  :-)  NetBSD used to work just fine
with CMD controllers, up until around 1.4 somewhere IIRC, and I've
studied the MSCP code, trying to find something that might have caused
it to stop working, but in vain.
