hmm this might be what was behind some uco7-nfs traffic that hosed my 
4000/600 a few days ago.. as i was trying to make a locally bootable 
disk, labelling and making filesystems presented no problem but as soon 
as i started untarring the dist sets the machine dropped to db. i should 
have captured the trace, but i dont remember now where it was.. ill have 
to do it again and find out. if this fixes it, that will be good!
