Hi Bob,

there is some VMS FAQ on the net that describes this exactly.
What I do is this:

Ingredients:

1 "rollover" cable with the RJ45 (? that TP ethernet style
   plug.) These cables come with most CISCO equipmen, just
   in case you work at a shop where they have that stuff.)

1 RJ to D9 adapter PC style (comes with the CISCO stuff.)

1 RJ to D9 adapter DEC style

And off you go :-)

Of course you can go to that FAQ and take a soldering iron.
