Okay, Now I've ran the machine with VMS for over three hours with
continous pinging, and no hiccups... I'd say we are doing something
wrong...

14375 packets transmitted, 14375 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 3.950/4.846/197.504/8.889 ms

No lost packets, and the maximum time was 197 ms. VMS is handling the
hardware *much* better in this regard. Should I do the same test with
NetBSD on the same hardware for comparision?
