Those small "files" are the normal ANSI tape labels and file headers. Find
any program that reads ANSI tapes, and you'll see a tape containing only
one file, your VMS BACKUP saveset.

Under VMS: Use BACKUP. :-)

It might help if you tell what system you want to read this saveset on.
There might be some freeware program that extracts files, but I'm pretty
sure there are some commercial alternatives as well.
