Hi again,
I got my hands on ultrix 4.5, and tried to see if there are any
differences in performance. Anyway, the antique dhrystone version 1.1
I have been running earlier on VAXen seems to give very different
numbers on NetBSD / Ultrix. What I am doing wrong?
MicroVax 3400 / Ultrix
csh> make
cc dhrystone.c -o dhrystone
Running dhrystone (Level 1 optimization, without registers)
./dhrystone
Dhrystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 11
This machine benchmarks at 4366 dhrystones/second
MicroVax 3400 / NetBSD 1.5.2
Running dhrystone (Level 1 optimization, without registers)
./dhrystone
Dhrystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 20
This machine benchmarks at 2472 dhrystones/second
VaxServer 3100 / Ultrix
# make
Running dhrystone (Level 1 optimization, without registers)
./dhrystone
Dhrystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 7
This machine benchmarks at 6510 dhrystones/second
VaxServer 3100 / NetBSD
ma% ke
Running dhrystone (Level 1 optimization, without registers)
./dhrystone
Dhrystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 13
This machine benchmarks at 3679 dhrystones/second
