You need to make sure your monitor supports "Sync on Green."  I've had 
luck with many PC monitors with 5-bnc connectors.  Some have a switch on 
the back that you can flip for sync on green, some do it automatically, 
and some have a setting on the on-screen menu for it.  Some 
fixed-frequency monitors that support sync-on-green may not work with the 
VAX (ie, some large IBM workstation moniors, even though the RS6K cable 
is compatible with DEC video cards)  but I've had great luck with 
most others, including SGI, NEC, Sony, HP, and even iiyama.  My Sony G-500 
monitor has both BNC and HD15 connectors, so I can use it with a PC and 
VAX simultaneously by switching the input selector on the front of the 
monitor.
