i remember a while back there was a thread about how many vaxen were
actually ever built.. i just came across an interesting snippet in the 
january 1990 issue of a mag called 'dec professional' which is not a super
interesting magazine (its almost like a watered down version of 
comp.os.vms, with ten year old advertisements!), except that it features the 
machines we all love.. but one article mentions a survey that found 
20,814 vax 8000 series machines installed in the US. thats a lot, those 
machines were _big_!

just another clue to how much vax iron really exists.
