This isn't due to apathy or anything, you know. There's a number of
people who would love to write this driver, but I have to tell you,
examining disassembly of prom test routines and such isn't sufficient
reference for anyone with a life.

If you can convince the powers that be inside Compaq to track down
a programming manual for this framebuffer and release it to the
appropriate developers, then support is likely to follow.

You don't have to be a programmer to help opensource projects, so
just how badly do you want that graphic console? Even confirmation
that the docs (still) exist would be encouraging.
